Worship at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church is welcoming, reflective, and rooted in ancient Christian tradition. Each service follows a simple, reverent flow—Scripture reading, a brief sermon, prayer, confession, sharing of peace, and receiving the Eucharist. While we honor the sacredness of worship, the atmosphere is casual and inclusive, with space for crying babies, sensory needs, and anyone seeking a deeper connection with God. Children and youth are invited to take part by reading Scripture, serving at the altar, and joining in music, while nursery care is available for younger ones. Whether you're exploring faith or have followed Jesus for years, you'll find a warm space to grow, heal, and be empowered to bless the world. If you have questions before visiting, we’d love to connect.
The Episcopal Church offers a welcoming space to explore faith, providing a solid foundation through its rich history and communal worship. It encourages personal growth by embracing the Bible as the inspired Word of God, interpreted through tradition, reason, and experience. Recognizing all baptized individuals as ministers, the Church empowers everyone to engage in meaningful ministry, fostering spiritual development and a deeper relationship with God.
You’ll see a bit of everything around here. We want you to be comfortable focused on our worship together. Dress pants, jeans, dresses, shorts, suit jackets, and vests all turn up from time to time. We welcome you as you are.
You’ll notice some people cross themselves, kneel, or bow—but how you participate is entirely up to you. The service bulletin offers guidance, and you’re welcome to join in, observe, or ask questions. Greeters can connect you with someone to sit with if you’d like help during the service, or you’re free to sit back and take it all in. Wherever you are in your faith journey, you are truly welcome here.
Children are always welcome in worship and are an important part of our community. They can stay with their families or use the nursery—available Sundays for ages three and under, and Wednesdays for kids up to ten. The nursery is also open during events. All caregivers are background-checked and certified for safety. Activity bags are available outside the Nave to help kids and those with sensory needs stay engaged during the service.
At Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, we understand the challenge of finding time for spiritual growth and the difficulty of pursuing it alone. For over sixty years, we've supported adults in deepening their relationship with God and self-awareness. To facilitate this journey, we offer adult formation classes during three semesters each year, beginning in October, February, and June. These classes provide diverse opportunities to explore faith, build relationships, and engage with the community. You can sign up for the current semester, even if it's already underway, at holyspiritwaco.com/formation. By participating, you'll find support and guidance to grow spiritually and personally.
At Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, we understand the challenges parents face in nurturing their teenagers' spiritual and personal development. Starting October 2022, we are introducing age-appropriate classes for middle and high school students, providing a supportive environment for them to explore their faith and build meaningful relationships. We actively involve youth in our weekly worship services, encouraging them to participate by reading Scripture, contributing musically, and serving at the Altar. All our teachers undergo background checks and are certified in Safeguarding God’s Children, ensuring a safe and nurturing space for your teenager to grow and thrive.
