Find Your Place at Holy Spirit

You’re on a journey of growth into the likeness of Jesus Christ. We want to walk alongside you. Whether you’ve been in church for years or are totally new, there are plenty of ways to get connected at Holy Spirit to deepen your faith.

After a few Sundays at Holy Spirit, you may want to learn more about whether or not we’re the right fit for you. The best way to discern that is by attending our Exploration Lunch. The Exploration Lunch is held quarterly. The lunch informally covers The Episcopal Church, Holy Spirit, and our unique values and vision for where we are headed as a church.

After the lunch, a member of clergy will check in with you about what might be the right next steps. Perhaps it’s becoming a member of Holy Spirit, being baptized, being confirmed, or any number of other possibilities. This is what we call the deepening spiral. We slowly over time grow deeper and deeper in our faith. None of us have arrived and none of us have mastered one part of our spiritual life such that we never need to return to it.

We encourage new members of the church and old members who have not done so to attend two adult formation classes during their time at Holy Spirit. One, School of Prayer and two, Discernment of Spirits.

School of Prayer

In School of Prayer, we explore the basic building blocks of deepening our spiritual life. The course covers the basic vocabulary and practices of Christian spirituality, with a special emphasis on building a personal prayer life centered in the Scriptures. The aim is a mature, sustainable practice of the Christian faith.

Discernment of Spirits

In Discernment of Spirits, we explore the basic building blocks of vocational discernment. We learn to recognize and participate in God’s work in our lives, while resisting the counterfeit spiritual voices that try to derail us. The aim is a wise, steady, and creative Christian life.

We are a vibrant community and you are welcome here.

If you have any questions about becoming involved at Holy Spirit or what might be next for you while you journey with us, please don’t hesitate to ask. Contact our Associate Rector, Rev. Preston Yancey, here.
